Accent Energy Acquires Northern Illinois Commercial and Industrial Customers from Nicor Energy
Dublin, OH and Lisle, IL—March 27, 2003—Accent Energy Group LLC (Accent Energy) today announced the acquisition of approximately 1,700 commercial and industrial customer accounts in deregulated natural gas markets across northern Illinois. The accounts were acquired from Nicor Energy, a retail energy marketer owned equally by Nicor, Inc. (NYSE:GAS) and Dynegy (NYSE:DYN). Accent Energy currently serves natural gas customers throughout California.
Accent Energy Group is led by Founder and Chairman, Lance W. Schneier, who has a strong history in Chicago as a pioneer in natural gas marketing through Access Energy, the company he previously founded.

Accent Energy will continue to honor the natural gas contracts. Customers do not have to take any action at this time and will be notified by letter in the coming days.
Nicor Energy announced several months ago its decision to exit the retail energy business. "This transaction with Accent Energy completes our efforts to assign all our customers to a qualified energy supplier," said Kevin Kirby. "Our focus will now turn to an orderly and expeditious closing of Nicor Energy."
