Kevin S. Penn, Managing Director

Since founding ACI Capital in 1995, Mr. Penn has had overall responsibility for all aspects of the Firm's activities.  Prior to joining ACI Capital, he was Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer for First Spring Corporation, where he ran the firm's buyout activity in addition to having responsibility for all their private equity, direct investment and public investment portfolios.  Previously, Mr. Penn was a Principal with the private equity firm Adler & Shaykin and was a founding member of the Leveraged Buyout Group at Morgan Stanley & Co.

Mr. Penn currently serves as a Director of Accent Energy, Cornhusker Energy, Healthy Directions (formerly Phillips Health), Highland Financial, SEMX and Sundance Holdings Group.  In addition, he is a member of the University of Pennsylvania Undergraduate Financial Aid Committee and on the Advisory Board of the Mt. Sinai Hospital Department of Medicine.

He received a BS Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, graduating magna cum laude, and an MBA from Harvard Business School, graduating with Distinction.

 

Matthew Bronfman, Managing Director


Since joining ACI Capital in 2000, Mr. Bronfman has had responsibility in all areas of the Firm's investing activities.  Prior to joining ACI Capital, he was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Candle Acquisitions Company, a private label specialty candle manufacturer.  Prior to that, Mr. Bronfman was the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sterling Cellular Holdings, LP, a privately held cellular telephone company.  Previously, he was employed by Goldman Sachs & Co. and Cadillac Fairview Corporation Limited.

Mr. Bronfman currently serves on the boards of James River Group, Blue Square, Israel, Ltd., Earnest Partners, Palace Candles Inc. and Tweeter Home Entertainment Group, Inc.  He joined the Board of Directors of the 92nd Street Y in 1991, chaired the Capital Campaign from 1997 to 2002, served as President from 2000 until 2003 and as Chairman from 2003 to present.  Mr. Bronfman also serves on the Budget and Finance Committee of the World Jewish Congress.

He received a BA from Williams College and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

 

Hunter S. Reisner, Managing Director

Mr. Reisner joined ACI Capital in 2005.  Prior to joining the Firm, he was the founder and Managing Partner of Citigroup Investments Private Equity Group in 1997 and became Senior Partner of its successor, Citigroup Private Equity, in 2002.  In these capacities, Mr. Reisner was responsible for investing over $3 billion and managing over $6 billion of proprietary and client capital in over 30 private equity direct investments and over 125 private equity partnerships.  Previously, he invested in private equity as well as public equity and equity-related securities at Butler Capital, Salomon Brothers and Morgan Stanley & Co.  Mr. Reisner has also served as a senior equity capital markets professional at Smith Barney and Salomon Brothers.

He has held seats on the advisory boards, investment committees and boards of directors of over 20 private equity funds and portfolio companies, most of which operate in the middle market.  Of note, Mr. Reisner has served on the Advisory Board of ACI Capital America Fund, L.P. since its formation in 1999 and has evaluated and completed investments with ACI Capital since 1998.

He received his BA in Economics and Mathematics from Yale University, graduating summa cum laude, and an MBA from Stanford University's Graduate School of Business.

 

Michael G. Manasse, Managing Director

Mr. Manasse joined ACI Capital in 2008.  Prior to joining the Firm, he was a Managing Director at Bear Growth Capital Partners, an affiliate of Bear Stearns.  Prior to that he spent five years with Tinicum Capital Partners, a middle-market private equity firm, and served as a mergers and acquisitions associate with Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.

He received his BS in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, graduating magna cum laude, and a JD from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.

 

Mitchell I. Quain, Managing Director

Mr. Quain is a Senior Director with ACI Capital.  He was with ABN AMRO, an investment banking, securities and asset management business, from 1997-2001, most recently as vice chairman.  Previously, Mr. Quain spent 22 years at Schroder Wertheim, beginning in 1975 immediately following graduation with distinction from Harvard Business School.  His career at Wertheim was interrupted only once for a brief tour at Prudential where he invested in and/or served on the Boards of privately-held Cognex, Perceptron and PDA Engineering, all of which subsequently went public.  During his return to Wertheim, Mr. Quain founded Wall Street's first Industrial Manufacturing Group, an outgrowth of his research coverage of multiple niches of machinery companies.  He is the former President of the MANY and appeared annually on the "Institutional Investor" All Star Research Team for 15 years.  He was ranked by "Institutional Investor" as the number one machinery analyst before he "retired" from research.  Mr. Quain is also Chairman of the Board of Overseers of the Engineering School of the University of Pennsylvania and serves on Penn's Board of Trustees, vice chairing its audit committee, as well as serving the executive committee of Penn Medicine.  In addition to his various commitments at the University of Pennsylvania, he serves on the Board of Directors of Harding, Inc., Iridian Corp., MagneTek, Inc., Strategic Distribution, and Titan International.  He was previously a member of the Board of Trustees of St. Luke's Academy, a prep school in New Canaan, CT.

 

Mira Muhtadie, Vice President

Prior to joining ACI Capital in 2006, Ms. Muhtadie was an Associate at KPS Special Situations, a mid-market private equity fund focused on distressed investment opportunities.  Previously, Ms. Muhtadie was an Analyst at Lightyear Capital and an Analyst in the investment banking division of Credit Suisse First Boston.  Ms. Muhtadie received a BA in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

 

Loren S. Easton, Vice President

Mr. Easton joined ACI Capital in 2003.  Previously he was an Analyst in Lazard Frères’ Mergers and Acquisitions group.  He left ACI Capital in 2005 to attend The Wharton Business School of the University of Pennsylvania.  Mr. Easton rejoined ACI Capital in 2007 upon receiving his MBA.  He also received a BA from the University of Pennsylvania, graduating magna cum laude.  Mr. Easton currently serves as a Director of Sundance Holdings Group.

 

Lucas J. Brown, Associate

Mr. Brown joined ACI Capital in 2007.  Previously he was an Analyst at Financo, Inc., a leading investment bank focused on mergers and acquisitions in the retail and consumer industries.  Mr. Brown received a BS Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, graduating summa cum laude, and was a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Honorary Society.

 

Chad Ellis, Associate

Mr. Ellis joined ACI Capital in 2008. Previously he was an Analyst in the Mergers & Acquisitions group at Rothschild where he worked on transactions across a variety of industries. Mr. Ellis received a BA in Economics from the University of Virginia, graduating with Distinction and Phi Beta Kappa.

 

Gregory J. Nolff, Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Nolff will oversee the administrative functions of the Fund.  He serves as the Chief Financial Officer of American Securities Capital Partners, LLC ("American Securities") which he joined in 2003.  He will have responsibility for the accounting and financial reporting functions pertaining to the Fund.  His prior professional experience includes serving as Vice President of Finance at a substantial aerospace component manufacturer, as Chief Financial Officer of a private equity firm focused on industrial manufacturing companies and in a senior management position with Deloitte & Touche LLP's M&A practice in New York.  Mr. Nolff received a BS degree in Accounting from Arizona State University and an MBA from University of Central Florida.

 

James E. Mattutat, Chief Financial Officer of ACI Capital America Fund, L.P.

Since joining ACI Capital in 2001, Mr. Mattutat has had responsibility for all the financial affairs of the ACI Capital America Fund, L.P.  Prior to joining ACI Capital, Mr. Mattutat was Chief Financial Officer for The Shattan Group, an independent investment banking firm specializing in raising private equity and equity-related capital for private and public middle market companies.  Previously, Mr. Mattutat served as Regional Chief Financial Officer for Omnicare, Inc., a publicly held pharmaceutical distribution company and was a Senior Manager in the High Technology Group of Price Waterhouse, LLP.  Mr. Mattutat currently serves as Treasurer and Director of The Long Island Venture Group and as a Member of the Corporate Advisory Board of the Dolan DNA Learning Center at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory.  Mr. Mattutat is a Certified Public Accountant and received a BS in Accounting from Villanova University.
